Modern drug delivery systems are designed based on the controlled release of drugs from buccal films. In these systems, the drug is placed in a polymer container and after consuming the polymer film, it swells and becomes rubbery and the drug is released under the influence of stimuli in the body. The amount of release can be determined by designing the physical structure or modifying the chemical formulation. One of the most important factors in drug delivery systems of polymer films is the study and control of film swelling. If the swelling is not enough, the drug will not be released well, and if the swelling is too much, the polymer chains will separate and eventually the film structure will be broken and the drug will be released into the patient's mouth very quickly. Thus, the study and engineering of inflation rates is very important in the drug release process.
